SR 836 / DOLPHIN EXPRESSWAY RECONSTRUCTION

FROM NW 57TH AVENUE TO NW 17TH AVENUE

CEI - Construction Engineering Inspection

SCOPE OF WORK

As a member of the New Millennium Team, Castillo Engineering provided construction engineering inspection services for the SR 836 Modernization from NW 57th Avenue to NW 17th Avenue. The improvements include an additional lane in each direction, increasing capacity, and the reconstruction of the interchanges at NW 27th Avenue, NW 37th Avenue, NW 42nd Avenue, NW 45th Avenue and NW 57th Avenue. This reconstruction reduces congestion, and backups onto local roads. An innovative traffic solution called Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) is now operational at NW 57th and 27th Avenues, significantly improving traffic efficiency. New right-hand exit ramps provide direct access to Miami International Airport and NW 42nd Avenue. Special red striped lanes on the reinforced inner shoulders will provide exclusive access to a new bus express service from the Dolphin Station Park and Ride to downtown.
